Pate Mustajärvi Embarks on Extensive Domestic Tour in the Fall

The multiple award-winning legend of Finnish rock is entering a new era. After leading the band Popeda, which he founded in 1977, to a spectacular finish with a sold-out show at Tampere's Ratina Stadium in September 2023, Pate Mustajärvi is now fully focusing on his solo career.

The winds of change in Mustajärvi's career could already be felt with the release of the single "Hei äijä" just a week after the Ratina concert. In September 2024, the "Pelkkää Patee" tour will kick off, conquering concert halls and clubs across Finland.

Recording for Universal Music, Mustajärvi is known as a charismatic figure who has always kept up with the times. This is evident in his lyrics, which reflect current phenomena, as well as his strong statements. The latest single from the Ikuri native, "Hei äijä," will be followed by more new music in 2024.

In February, a book titled "Ratinaan se päättyi – 46 vuotta Popedaa" based on diary entries will be published. The experienced storyteller's reservoir of stories remains inexhaustible even in the 2020s.

In the fall of 2024, Pate will tour Finland with his "Pelkkää Patee" tour, performing a total of 20 concerts. The tour will feature "Pelkkää Patee" presented to audiences in both two-hour concerts with an intermission and more rock-oriented club gigs. Having launched his solo career in 1984 and released 12 solo albums to date, Mustajärvi is set to release new music, including a full-length album, ahead of the tour.

"We've been slowly recording new songs since last fall, and I believe we'll have a full album out before the tour," reveals Mustajärvi, who signed a new recording contract with Universal Music in spring 2023. He promises concert audiences a comprehensive cross-section of his entire solo repertoire with fresh arrangements.

"Putting together setlists with the new team is a lot of fun. We’re bringing out completely new aspects of the songs. I’m really excited about all of this for the first time in a long while," enthuses Mustajärvi.
The tour lineup combines solid experience and young talent, with Mikko Kangasjärvi (piano), Santeri Kotamäki (guitar), Milla Heinonen (bass), Aleksi Ylimäki (drums), Jari Latomaa (background vocals and acoustic guitar), and Päivi “Capri” Selo (background vocals) joining Pate on stage.

At the "Pelkkää Patee" club gigs, you'll see and experience a more rocking Pate than at concert hall performances, with no intermission. The club set lasts 90 minutes.

Tavara-asema is a discrimination-free space.
