On the first Saturday in August at Tampere’s Tavara-asema: M.D.C. (US), Kohu-63, and Terveet Kädet.
Founded in Austin, Texas, in 1979, Millions Of Dead Cops is known for, among other things, their classic “John Wayne Was A N*zi,” whose legendary bassline is unforgettable once you’ve heard it. MDC, which has shaped punk culture in an indelible way, actively criticizes law enforcement, homophobia, capitalism, and American culture in its lyrics.
Tampere-based Kohu-63 was once the very epitome of a punk band. They deliberately provoked, opposed everything, and weren’t afraid to take on even the toughest challenges. On top of that, they were one of the hardest-hitting bands of their era. Kohu-63 is still active today.
Terveet Kädet, founded in Tornio in 1979, was Finland’s first hardcore punk band. Terveet Kädet is best known for its straightforward songs from the early 1980s, many of which lasted only 30 seconds.
The band has achieved cult status in HC punk circles around the world. Among others, Sepultura/Soulfly musician Max Cavalera has said that the band is his favorite. Terveet Kädet is currently putting the finishing touches on their next album, which is set to be released later this year.
