Pop pioneers and metal masters – over 100 artists will perform at Tavara-asema and Tullikamari this autumn!

Taking the stage will be SANNI, Pariisin Kevät, Turisti, Kotiteollisuus and many other favourite artists. New queer event [KVÄÄR] will be celebrated at Tavara-asema on Saturday 5 October as well.

Tavara-asema and Tullikamari have announced a wide range of shows for autumn 2024, with more than 100 top artists performing in the historic buildings, as well as a host of other cultural events and new nightclubs.

At the multi-award-winning Tavara-asema, audience will be entertained by popstar SANNI, who is about to release her fifth studio album, Finnish rock legend Pate Mustajärvi, and rapstar Turisti, who is turning a new page in his career – just to mention a few events! The warm and cosy Tullikamari, in its turn, will host Apulanta, Finland’s most popular rock band, Haloo Helsinki!, a group that has won several Emma awards, as well as Karri Koira, a beloved artist enjoying a huge live following.

“I believe that both venues will see many sold-out concerts. Our strength is our diversity, and it’s great to be able to offer audiences such a wide range of shows! We have Dutch art rock band NITS, who are bidding farewell, Indica, who are making a comeback, and exciting new artists at the beginning of their career like VIIVI and Ilta,” says Janne Laurila, Programme Manager of the Tampereen Kulttuurikamari, which runs both venues.

Autumn brings international stars to Tampere

Foreign bands of interest to music diggers are strongly represented in the programme. Among the acts taking to the stage of the historic brick houses are GA-20 (USA), who are leading the blues revival, The Boys (UK), known for sailing the first waves of the 1970s punk explosion, as well as rock group Smash Into Pieces (SWE), who made a name for themselves at Melodifestivalen last spring.

“Tonight, Thursday 5 September, a full house at Tullikamari will be treated to a show by Mongolian metal sensation The HU. The spectacle is guaranteed to leave no one cold”, Laurila says.

For heavy music fans, there are many other gigs to choose from as well: performing in Tampere will be nu-metal group Blind Channel, prog group VOLA (DNK), who recently wowed the Tuska crowd, Kotiteollisuus who will be releasing new music, as well as successful metal group Symphony X (USA) – plus many other powerful acts!

For a more relaxed atmosphere, leading the way will be ONEVIOLIN, a violin virtuoso who has been performing to sold-out crowds in recent years, and Semmarit, celebrating their 35-year career at Klubi.

October is filled with gigs from up-and-coming artists

Catchy pop tunes will also add a spice to autumn in the venues. They include Pariisin Kevät, who recently released their album Sun yö on pian täällä, MODEM, known for their dark synth sounds, Maustetytöt, who have wowed half of Europe, disco queen Erika Vikman and beloved singer-songwriter Anna Järvinen.

Some of the autumn rap concerts will also have tickets without age limit for sale. Such are gigs by Turisti, who will bring his ROADMAN tour to Tavara-asema, and by Ege Zulu, known for his strong stage presence. Both artists will perform in Tampere during the autumn holiday week. Also Käärijä will play a daytime gig without age limit at Tullikamari in November.

In October, Tampere will be lit up by the Lost In Music festival, which will bring the city’s most interesting artists to the clubs. At Tullikamari and Tavara-asema, performing will be Averagekidluke, who has amassed over 20 million streams, feminist collective BÄMÄ, Sara Siipola, who rose to popularity in the UMK Contest for New Music, up-and-coming artist Mirella, and many other stars of the future!

1990s pop hits and the return of the classic nightclub

The big news of the autumn is that the legendary club Tummat tunnit at Tullikamari’s Klubi is back! The much missed weekday nightclub with its low prices is inviting you to celebrate – and the opening hours will be even longer, until 4am. On 7 September, Tavara-asema will organize for the first time Tavara Station <3 Ysäri party, where the dance floor will be blasted by the biggest hits of the 1990s.

Familiar favourites such as indie nightclubs Big Pop and Hang The DJ will continue their winning streak. On Saturday 21st September, Tavara-asema will host a dance party for a good cause: there will be a special night K40-disco x Roosa nauha, which aims to raise funds for the local cancer association Pirkanmaan Syöpäyhdistys.

The enthusiastically received queer event [KVÄÄR] will be celebrated on Saturday 5 October – for the first time on the weekend, in line with the public’s wishes. The [KVÄÄR] nightclub programme is this time provided by Leimarit® and curated by RARE Media. The evening planned in unique collaboration will be dedicated to community, partying and fun.

“We hope that [KVÄÄR] will inspire both queer people and everyone interested in inclusive and safe club culture to come to Tampere. You can come to [KVÄÄR] events just as you are. If you are not part of the LGBTIQA+ community, please make room for others and respect the ideology of the event,” says Kristiina Paananen, Marketing and Sales Manager of Tampereen Kulttuurikamari.

“Leimarit® is a traditional party that Sinuiksi ry, also known as SETA in Pirkanmaa, has been organizing for queer people for 35 years. The primary goal has always been to provide a safe space for our community to meet others and be who we are. Our customers have experienced Tavara-asema as such a space, and we are happy that we can now join forces,” says Risto Pasula, financial officer of Sinuiksi ry.

The popularity of Tavara-asema Second Hand also continues. All the selling spots for the September event are reserved, so there will be plenty of treasures on offer for flea market enthusiasts. For the first time, we will also hear tips on clothing maintenance and repair during the event.
